the whistle-blower claims that the whistle-blower from the personnel had been present at the rally. the gunmen would've been handcuffed, or mike in the parking lot after being spotted with a range finder. the senator's letter comes after other lawmakers grilled him during his congressional testimony earlier this week, during which we learned about security failures. rowe testified urgent warnings about the gunmen were silo in local and state radio channels. he said some of the agency's equipment could have detected the gunmen's drones but the equipment didn't work. >> it's something that i feel as though we could have perhaps found him. we could have maybe stopped him. maybe on that particular day, he would have decided "this isn't the day to do it," because "law enforcement found me flying my drum." >> the senator says the whistle-blower claims a culture

of retaliation within the secret service for those who have spoken about security concerns pertaining to former former president donald trump's events. we reached out to the secret service, and the agency told us he respects the sender's position of oversight and plans to respond via official channels. >> thank you, much appreciated. speaker mccarthy, great to have you here. i'm stunned the more we learn about this. go away think about it is they were heroes on the ground that they. the president's detail, the people who dove on top of him, the people who did not know what was going on. at the top, there was failure. we have -- heard this from a secret service senior official, three things that failed us at butler were lack of communication, leadership issue, lack of personal which is a leadership issue, lack of use of technology which is a leadership issue. we need to figure where leadership meets heroes on the

failures, marketing nightmares, p.r. disasters, behavioral freak outs, all of that under failed leadership with the toxic culture for years. the point is that i need to understand how was he going to change right now? right now, there are a lot of good, amazing people under protection, and heroes willing to sacrifice their lives at a moment's notice for the people they are protecting. at the end of the day, as a taxpayer, tell me now as more resources, more training? it's clearly defined leadership, but tell me right now what it is. i am tired of trying to find out -- i think we all know the answers so let's get it now. >> "the new york times" had one sentence that i think sums up everything we have learned: "the result was that a 20-year-old gunmen had a technological advantage over a $3 billion federal agency." >> that story talked about how the secret service did not have the best technology, it was not working, they had not invested in it. that's a stunning statement you just read.

to emily's point, this is not just one bad secret service director. this has been going on for a very long time. we remember in the administration i served in, we had serious challenges with the secret service. this is an agency in deep need of reform. you are right. is more money, more training, more technology? is all the above? firing one director isn't going to fix it. i think a lot of other people will also be fired at the end of these investigations and i think all of us probably think that's the right thing to do after we know who was at failure, but there are systemic problems. thank god the worst it did not happen that day, and other problems happened happened. with this level of failure, i am shocked. they need to fix it now, and if congress needs to get more money, let's give them more. >> ended the dash -- go for that family. >> and the worsted happen. a multiple of this video. some of you may have seen this but it's from the vantage point of -- you can see here an individual running along the

roof is from the one minute mark to about the t two minute and 50 minute mark. how did no one see this? >> you will notice in the south of the camera moves out. it was visible, clearly for at least an hour before other rally ghosts saw him. we know the story. the problem is because of the lack of communication, though secret service not talking to us, conspiracy theories begin and you wonder "wait a minute, is it just this perfect storm of failures, and why at this rally --" were they happening at other places? wasn't happening with the first lady on the same day? people begin to ask. with trump and what we saw of course. i am an american and i don't think this way, but the idea but the head of the fbi was involved with the russia hoax, personally, giving things to his professor friend to leak about the president.

them. i know it's no network, but simone biles, katie l.a. tech -- they are amazing athletes for the united states. the zone picks up an incredible. on this story, both boxers were talking about how their entire lives, they have been women. these are not transgender athletes. they did not change genders. they have been women their entire lives. both competed in tokyo. neither won metals. is not like these are two women boxers were pummeling everyone all the time. these are complicated issues. i think the american people have mixed feelings about that. there is an instinctive aversion to some of the language that has been used about this female boxer. it's gross and repulsive questioning their identity and who they are as a human. i also think there are people who say instinctively if someone is a man that should not compete against a woman. i think the american people have lots of conflicting feelings about this. what i don't want to some of the language being used.
